Blacktop is a combination of bitumen and crushed stone. It has a higher percentage of crushed stone than asphalt. Blacktop is heated up to 300 degrees or higher when it is first laid down. It is a versatile product that can be used for driveways, roadways, parking lots, and walkways. Blacktop paving is generally more affordable than concrete as well.
Your new blacktop can be walked upon almost immediately. However, it can take 6 to 12 months to fully harden and cure. So, we always recommend that you keep vehicles and traffic off the surface for at least 3 full days or longer in hot weather. If you allow 3 days or more for the blacktop paving to harden and cure without any traffic, it will give it the best chance at lasting as long as possible and prevent cracking and uneven surfaces.
Do you need to repave your parking lot, driveway, or walkway? Then consider blacktop paving. It is up to half the cost of concrete, is quickly installed, and is easily maintained. We recommend that our customers allow 3 days or more for the blacktop to harden and cure before driving on it.
